Legal
Privacy & Cookies
This page explains how Gift of Love Development Centre processes personal data and uses cookies on this website, in line with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
1. Who we are
The data controller for this website is Gift of Love Development Centre, a non-governmental organisation registered in Uganda on 4 May 2017 (currently registered as Slovak Catholic Caritas Gift of Love — SKCH).
- Address: Adjumani, Northern Uganda
- Email: info@giftoflovecenter.com
- Phone: +256 785 803 626
2. What data we collect
We only collect data that you provide voluntarily, or that is strictly necessary to operate the website:
- Email enquiries — when you write to us at our contact email, we receive your name, email address, and the content of your message, processed only to respond to your enquiry.
- Server logs — standard web-server records (IP address, user agent, request URL, timestamp) kept briefly for security and debugging.
- Cookie preferences — your consent choice, stored locally in your browser.
- Analytics data — only with your explicit consent (see Cookies below).
3. Legal basis for processing
- Consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR) — for analytics cookies.
- Legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR) — for responding to enquiries you send us, security logs, and the technical operation of the website.
4. How we use cookies
A cookie is a small file stored by your browser. We use two categories on this website:
- Necessary — required for navigation, security, and remembering your cookie choice. Always active.
- Analytics — anonymous statistics that help us understand how the site is used so we can improve it. Loaded only after you give consent.
You can change your cookie choice at any time:
5. Sharing & international transfers
We do not sell or rent personal data. We share data only with carefully selected service providers (such as web hosting and, with consent, analytics) under appropriate data-protection agreements. Where data leaves the European Economic Area, we rely on Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent safeguards.
6. How long we keep data
Email correspondence is kept only as long as needed to handle your request and any related follow-up. Server logs are kept for a short technical period. Cookie preferences remain in your browser until you change or clear them.
7. Your rights
Under GDPR you have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, or object to the processing of your personal data, as well as the right to data portability and to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. To exercise these rights, contact us at info@giftoflovecenter.com.
8. Children’s privacy
This website is intended for a general adult audience. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children through this site. Photographs and stories of children at the centre are published only with appropriate permission and care for their dignity and safety.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when our practices or applicable law change. The latest version is always available on this page.
